In my conversations with African intellectual elites, I always encounter the same dilemma I find among Gulf elites: the inability to distinguish between the Gulf presence in the African continent and the Gulf political engagement with African issues.
The second dilemma concerns the researcher and thinker in the Gulf region, where there is a general lack of awareness regarding the dividing line between the two. From an African perspective, this has negatively impacted the future of Gulf political research in Africa.
The continuation of these dilemmas will ultimately lead to the strategic Gulf-African dialogue being stripped of its content, goals, and future aspirations.
