My academic engagement in the African continent—particularly in the field of political science—has brought me together with some of the most prominent figures in anthropology and political sociology in the Republic of Benin and the Gulf of Guinea region. During my recent visit to the city of Weidda, we held an important symposium on the major transformations that have occurred in the African collective consciousness and how these have contributed to the ongoing political developments across the continent.
