More than five thousand displaced people from the border areas with Burkina Faso fled the threats of terrorism, leaving everything they had behind them and saving their lives in difficult conditions, suffering from a shortage of drinking water and food, and crowding of people in huge numbers without taking into account health precautions in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The testimonies of some on the spot and the videos they sent to the International Organization for Justice and Transparency Imohag are shocking and warn of a disaster if international bodies and organizations do not intervene on their behalf quickly.

According to civil society organizations, thousands of destitute refugees fled Burkina Faso towards villages in northern Mali due to the violence practiced by extremist groups and criminals on the one hand, and due to pressure from the security authorities in Burkina Faso on refugees under the pretext of protecting the troubled borders on the other hand, which ultimately resulted in the worsening of the humanitarian situation of these people who have lived in a troubled country for decades.

One of the displaced, Mrs. Wortted, says: The circumstances and suffering are the reason we came to Gosi. We were forced to flee and it became unbearable. We were working and some of us sold coal to feed our children, but entering the market was no longer possible and we were prevented from doing so. She continues: We have nothing. We need food, water, even drinking utensils and tents. We no longer have anything in our hands.

Emohag International appeals with the utmost urgency to international bodies and people of humanitarian conscience to intervene in favor of these displaced people before it is too late.
