الإنتخابات الرئاسية في غانا

  • Ghana, country of western Africa, situated on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea. Although relatively small in area and population, Ghana is one of the leading countries of Africa, partly because of its considerable natural resources and also because it was the first black African country of the south Saharan to achieve independence from colonial rule.(1)
  • The country has an area 238,500 square kilometres , and has more Than 100 ethnicities . 
  • The country’s economy is dominated by agriculture, which employs about 40 percent of the working population. Ghana is one of the leading exporters of cocoa in the world. It is also a significant exporter of commodities such as gold and timber. (2) 
  • As another British colonised country , Ghana has a little independence more than most west African countries. 
  • Ghana in 1957 became the first Sub-Saharan country in colonial Africa to gain its independence. Ghana endured a series of coups before Lt. Jerry RAWLINGS took power in 1981 and banned political parties. After approving a new constitution and restoring multiparty politics in 1992 with the 4rt republic, Rawlings won presidential elections in 1992 and 1996 but was constitutionally prevented from running for a third term in 2000. John KUFUOR of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) succeeded him and was reelected in 2004. John Atta MILLS of the National Democratic Congress won the 2008 presidential election and took over as head of state. MILLS died in July 2012 and was constitutionally succeeded by his vice president, John Dramani MAHAMA, who subsequently won the December 2012 presidential election. In 2016, Nana Addo Dankwa AKUFO-ADDO of the NPP defeated MAHAMA, marking the third time that Ghana’s presidency has changed parties since the return to democracy.(3) 
  • The political system in Ghana is two party System like United state dominated by national democratic congress (NDc ) and new patriotic party (npp),and it is impossible for the micro parties to win an election. 
  • In history of Ghana they saw 4 republic , the 1st with kwamen Nkrumah and the most characteristic of it was : communist model , the president for life 
  • and the second with the military and the most characteristic was : authoritarian regime , massive regressing , and corruption. 
  • The 3rd with Rawlings : authoritarian regime , beat against corruption. The 4th with Rawlings also and the Most characteristic : multipartismes, liberty and freedom, and democracy. 
    • The candidate of election : 
  • Acting president : Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo aged 76 is the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He is a lawyer by profession and holds a B. Sc. in Economics.
  • Former president : John Dramani Mahama just turned 62, and he is the Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He is a Media/Communicationist by profession and holds a post-graduate diploma in communication studies
  • Christian Kwabena Andrews is the Presidential candidate for the Ghana Union Movement (GUM). He is a pastor and a teacher and holds an A level certificate.
  • Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, 54, is the Presidential candidate for the Conventions People’s Party (CPP). He is a Lawyer by profession.
  • Akua Donkor is 65 years and she is the Presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP). She is a farmer and a politician.
  • Henry Herbert Lartey ,66, is the Presidential candidate of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP). He is into Finance, Agro-Business and international trade and holds an MBA in Economics and Finance.
  • Hassan Ayariga, 48, is the Presidential candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC). He is an accountant and holds an Honorary Doctrate.
  • Percival Kofi Akpaloo, 49, is the Presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG). He is an accountant and holds an ACCA/MBA in strategic management.
  • David Asibi Ayindenaba Apasera, is the Presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC). He is a social worker and holds a Bachelor Degree .
  • Brigitte Akosua Dzogbenuku, 51, is the Presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP). She is an entrepreneur and holds a first degree.
  • Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings,72 is the Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP). She is a management consultant. She was a First Lady of Ghana during the moment of Rawlings 
  • Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker, 64, is an independent Presidential candidate. He is a design engineer and holds a Master’s degree. (4)
  • NPP vs NDC :
  • the delicate subjects of  This election : 
  • The most for this election was about corruption and Covid-19 management and the economic situation, unemployment .
  • And the particulary of this election will be based on the result for who has done better beetwen the old rivals : John mahama and nana akufo addo ) therefore the population will be the best judge
  • Nana akufo addo :
  • The strong points for president nana akufo : 
  • good management of COVID-19 and free senior high school and the creation of the job 
  • And his weakness are : The spread of corruption, High cost of living , economic crisis caused by COVID-19, rise of the states standard of living .
  • And according for the statistics he’s the favourite in Monday’s election
  • the both principles candidates of election signed a pact for peace on Friday . and the ecowas sent a delegation for observation leading by former Liberian president: Ellen Johnson Sirleaf . 
    • The achievements of nana akufo addo :
  • Free Senior High School Education for all
  • About 962 SHS school blocks, 60000  teachers employed, Over 700 Basic School blocks , 77 kindergarten Schools (5)
  • 2-Embraced the application of digital technology in the delivery of public services
  • He increased the allowances of both trainee nurses and teachers which was scrapped by the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration and it had to be restored by this new government.
  • one ambulance initiative is a unique achievement by his government within the context of the history of Ghana
  • 5-reduced the benchmark values of import duties by as much as 50%, and, in the case of vehicles, by 30%. 
  • 6- he has put an end to the Unemployed Graduates Association, which was such a sad feature of the Mahama years, by creating Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) and several other job creation initiatives targeted at the youth (6) and according to the npp youth 100,000 young persons have been employed by (Nabco) and 70,000 young people  has employed by Youth Employment Agency (YEA) 
  • 7- Hundred and five thousand three hundred and fifty (105,350) Job Creation in Cocoa industries , Eighty-Three Thousand (83.000) youth employed By Forestry Commission
  • 8- Twelve thousand (12,000) start-ups and small business trained, 3,000 provided with funding to expand their businesses in order to create jobs under the Presidential Business Support Programme(7)
    • And his promise for Ghanaian in his last term :
    • consolidate the implementation of the Free SHS and Free TVET programmes
    • make sure no student who has obtained admission to a tertiary institution is denied access because they are unable to pay fees. We will provide all such students, with the exception of teacher and nurse trainees who are paid allowances, an option to obtain a student loan
  • construction of 6 new regional hospitals in the six new regions
  • continuing to improve on the over two million public and private sector formal jobs we have created and support the informal sector to formalise and create more better-paying jobs (8)
  • John mahama :
    • the principles achievements of John mahama (NDC) : 
  • He deployed emergency plants and speed up the completion of ongoing plants resulted in addition of more than 800 megawatts (MW) of power within 18-months. 
  • New bridge from Flower Pot Roundabout on the Spintex Road over the Accra-Tema Motorway to East Legon.
  • Five polyclinics (Phase III) in the Brong Ahafo Region at Nkrankwanta, Wamfie, Kwatire, Techimantia and Bomaa
  • 4-Ghana produced more than 1million tonnes of cocoa in 2011, (9)
  • the most massive investments in the road sector in the history of the country for example : Achimota-Ofankor , Awoshie-Pokuase, Sofoline , Tetteh Quarshie-Adenta.(10)
  • And his promise for Ghanaian in his last term  :
  • 1-Free senior high school for private schools because for npp gouvernement it’s juste for public schools.
  • 2- absorb 50% of tertiary school fees .
  • 3–One million jobs in first term 
  • 4-Retain nabco beneficiaries .
  • 5-Change mAternity leave from three to Four month , and give men seven paternity leave (11)
  • Finally I wish a free and transparent election for west African stable democratic country.
